Snowy days are lovely, and what is more wonderful than seeing the individual snowflakes with their intricate patterns. How amazing to think that they are all unique, and that so many fall and melt without even being appreciated! In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make your own six-sided snowflakes out of paper. It requires a bit of folding and a sharp pair of scissors, but the results are decidedly worth it. The resulting paper snowflakes can be taped to the window, added to a junk journal, used as temporary coasters, or even used in a Valentine card!
Set up your paper as shown in the illustration.
Fold the bottom right-hand corner up to touch the upper left edge. Fold the bottom left hand corner in half, trying to match the edges as exactly as possible.
Take the bottom point and fold it towards the top as shown.
Now, turn the paper over. Guess roughly what one third would be, and fold as shown. Fold the rest over to check your guess.
Adjust as needed. Once you have the folds the way you want them, cut along the top as shown.
Now comes the fun part. Cut out your designs. Here are some examples, along with the resulting snowflakes!
